My Jeep........

is still not fixed. grrrrrrrrrr. Now the dealership is closed. What to do now? I e-mailed the company and complained. Will that do any good? hmmmmmmmmm. I need this fixed or another vehicle. I am tired of having this in the shop and still not fixed. I told them I think I got a LEMON and I am tired of it.

Getting off my soapbox now. Thanks for listening and the prayers needed for this matter...

md

Merry Christmas to You and Yours!

Here it is Christmas week starting tomorrow! Already! WOW!

I want to thank the Lord for coming to this world and then to die on the cross to save ME from sin. He is soooo good to us. How can we not say 'Thank You; and I love You Jesus!'?

Our childrens Christmas program is in the morning. We have only one grandchild small enough to be in this program. All the rest are in NYI! Can you believe that? Tomorrow night we will have a concert by one of the guys from our church. He does this every year. His name is Rod Hopkins. He does a very good job with this. Last Wednesday, the 10th, we had our 'all church Christmas party'. Our church does something that is awesome in my eyes. They buy a gift for every child that comes to the church. Not just the ones that come to Sunday School, but the ones that come on Wed. nights for Caravans/Kids Club and NYI teens and youth groups. We are a blessed church to have such faithful and giving people. Praise the Lord for their generosity. The Sunday School teachers also get a nice gift. Also, we have a Christmas card exchange program. We address the cards to everyone in the church and put them in a 'mailbox' in the Fellowship Hall. They are then put in each individual stack per family. Since we do this this way, we do not mail them by USPS. We put the money that we would spend on stamps in the box as well. This money goes for the Nazarene Compassionate Ministry program. Our church is a very mission minded church. This too, I am very thankful for.

We have not had the money to have the surgery for Rusty yet. Hopefully we will be able to do this in the near future. We could have had it done if I had not needed tires for the jeep. I bought 4 new tires and had a blow out on the right front one before the week was out. I had to buy another tire. Total ended up being $750.00 for the 5 tires. I told Jack and Lyndsy that was my Christmas present. I had to have them because of my job. I could not deliver mail without them!

Lyndsy is still babysitting. She has the little girl's brother and sister today. The parents wanted her to watch all 3 while they went shopping for them and without them. Hmmmmmmmm wonder why that is??????? Couldn't be Christmas Day, could it? Gracie's brothers name is Noah and her sisters name is Abby. These 3 children are just as sweet as they can be. Lyndsy enjoys Gracie so much. She tells me about some of the things Gracie does and says. They are so cute.

I will be delivering mail most of the next week. I will be off on Tues. and of course Thurs. as it is Christmas Day. Right now I am the only sub that is in the Robeline Post Office. I even sub for the clerk in sorting the mail to the routes. Our Postmaster has retired this past week. Thursday was his official last day. He was there Friday to show the OIC, officer in charge, where things were and what was needed for this office. We will miss Russell very much. There will not be another one like him. Thank you Russell for all your help and caring and understanding for this old lady learning a new job. I really enjoy delivering the mail on the two routes weekly. I run route 2 on Mondays and route 4 on Saturdays. We do not know who our new Postmaster will be. The OIC will be there until then.

Must go and do something other than sitting here at the computer. HA-HA!! Hope you all have a wonderful and glorious Christmas. Remember why we have Christmas. He gave us the gift of love by sending His Son to take our place on that cruel cross.

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y, J E S U S! ! ! We love You....

Love to all.....

Election day.........

is today....

Lyndsy and I went to the polls after I got off the mail route this morning. We didn't have to wait very long. Just sign names and walk to booth and touch the screen to vote. As I am registered non-partisan, I couldn't vote the way I wanted to on part of the ballot. Is this freedom or is it communistic? In October there was an election and it was called 'closed'. This part today was a part that was for the run offs. In Oct., if you are registered democrat, you HAD to vote democrat. If you are registered republican, you HAD to vote republican. But, if you are registered non-partisan, you were automatically switched to democrat NO MATTER WHAT! I registered non-partisan so I could vote for who I thought was the 'right' person. This type of voting is robbing me of my constitutional rights to vote the way I want. To me this was and is sooooooooooo wrong. Oh, my goodness. I'm on a soapbox.......guess I will get off.

There is no school today because of elections. Some of the schools in the parish are used as polling places. You can't have children running around and adults voting at the same time. hmmmmmmmmm Therefore, Lyndsy didn't go to work today. But she is having a BAD day. She got up sick and stayed in the bathroom ALL morning long. When I got home at 12:30 she had finally gotten dressed and wanted to vote. We went and came right back hoping she didn't have to run to bathroom while we were gone. The poll where we vote is only 3 miles from the house so we made it ok. She is now feeling some better. Thank the Lord.

My jeep is STILL not fixed. I am unable to use the cruise, the locks still don't work, and so many other small things that don't work right. Hopefully I will get it to the shop sometime tomorrow. That means I will be on foot for the rest of the week, again. Maybe this time they will be able to fix it. The local shop is having to call jeep tech long distance to try to find the problems. Sounds complicated. I know it is agravating, to say the least.

I was able to sub at the school 4 days last month. That means at the end of November I will receive a small check in the mail for these 4 days. Good thing I don't depend on the school for a living.!? I have also been able to sub more at the post office as I am the only sub they have at the present time. New Orleans has hired a girl to start learning route 1 today. When she learns this route, I will no longer be needed on it. [unless she is unavailable when the main carrier in off] I will continue to sub on route 2 and 4 as needed. That will give me one 8 hour and one 2 hour routes per week. Thank the Lord for this until He provides more.

Our dog, Rusty, needs surgery. He has a 'tumor' in his bladder. Rusty is 10 years old. We have been praying for guideness on this matter. We do not want him to suffer. We, also, do not have the over $4oo to pay for it. It would cost almost 1/2 that to put him to sleep. We really don't want to do that either. He is a part of our family, our baby. God does care about our little things as well as a huge item of concern. I know He will provide no matter which way we finally decide.

It is almost time for Jack to come home. I need to get supper started. With Lyndsy sick, I'm not sure what to fix. Smells seem to bother her quite a bit right now. I'll figure that out, too.

Love ya!

More 'bugs'

.......in my jeep!.....While on the mail route today a whole bunch of lights on the dash came on, again! I sure hope they find out what is wrong...rrrrrrrrrrrr. God knows about this, too. Thank you Lord for taking care of us.

Aunt Judy....an RCA is: Rural Carrier Associate. A fancy name for a rural carrier SUB. :) I do enjoy this job. I am in the woods most of the time. So it is just God, me, myself, and I along with KLOVE all day long. There have been times that I have had to pull off the road and have a good cry for the blessings that God gave me through the songs KLOVE plays. So, yeah, this is a wonderful job.

Just got home from church. What a wonderful time of prayer we had. Our Missionary President, Frances, went to Ethiopia and Kenya the first part of the month. She was gone for 10 days. Oh, what a great report! of what is going on within the Church. Again, thank the Lord for taking care of these people that gathered together from all over the world.

Don's youngest granddaughter is in the hospital in Kenya. She is under an oxygen tent. They are running tests to try to find out what is wrong with her. She is just 3-4 months old. This is Amy's 2nd little girl. (Kaylee and Lyndsey Kathryn)

Well, I am going to get ready for bed now. I need to have the jeep in the shop around 7:30-8:00 in the morning. (unless the PO calls for me to sub) I guess I will take a good book with me and read while they work on it. I don't believe I will leave it for the rest of the week. I need my ride!

Love ya'll bunches.......Have a blessed day serving the Lord.

My!

How time does fly when you are having fun....

I am so sorry that I haven't been on here for a while. I have been trying to work 2 jobs lately. I am still subbing at the post office and enjoying that very much. I was called by the secretary of Florien High to come and sub there. So, I have subbed for the high school English and for the science teacher. I am scheduled to sub 5th grade on the 29th at Florien Elementary side. I will sub there only if the PO does not call. The Post Office is my main job.

I found out today that there may be another RCA coming to our office. If that is the case, I will sub only one day a week instead of two. Some day maybe the Lord will see an opening for me to be working full time and help to get our bills paid. :) Sure would be nice to be out of debt again.!!

My jeep was in the shop on the days I wasn't working. For two weeks it was there from Monday evening to Thursday or Friday afternoons. They still do not have it fixed. I have been having problems with it for close to a year. It just escalated. They are having to trace each wire to find out what the problem is. The locks don't work right. The interior light will come on, by itself, then go off. The gas gauge needle suddenly drops and then pops back up. STRANGE!!!!!! The engine light comes on and it is NOT the engine. It seems to be the computer system going crazy. The gas fuel sending sensor, and the speed sensors have all been replaced. This did not fix the problem. We even had to get a new battery as the one in it died. I have to take it back and have them finish tracing the rest of the wires to see what is what. I have to have a dependable vehicle available at all times. This is my job to drive and deliver the mail.

Well, I guess it is time to get off my pity pot and tell you that I know the Lord knows all about our problems. He WILL take care of ALL our needs. Glory to His Name.!!

This and That

Here it is Tuesday the last day of Sept. Can you believe this month is already gone? Look at the calender, just 3 months for Christmas!!

This is the first day in 3 weeks that I haven't delivered mail. I am resting today. Well, I did wash clothes, but otherwise I haven't done much of any thing else. My jeep is in the shop, so am also afoot. :( Hopefully, they will get it fixed this time.

Myra came back to work on Sat. She looks good and feels 'great'. Denise had the biopsy 2 weeks ago and it came back negative. Thank the Lord! for answered prayer. God is so good.

Lyndsy is still babysitting, so I guess it will last at least this semester, maybe longer. I don't know. She is enjoying being with Gracie.

Mom is trying something else to help my dad to get better. Please pray that this will be the trigger and help him to get well. He is just as tired as mom with this illness he has had. It has been almost 5 years now. Those of you who know him know how bad he has been. Thank you for the prayers on their behalf.

Well, the dryer is finished, guess I'll go and fold clothes.

Have a wonderful day in the Lord's presence.

Howdy folks

Thought you'd like to hear how Myra is doing. Today, we found out she may be back to work on Saturday. She will go to the physical therapist on Fri. and she feels like he will release her. If he does, she is going to the Dr. to hopefully get a release to come back. She hasn't taken any pain meds for some time now.

I have enjoyed filling in for her. I really enjoy being on the route as it is just the Lord, me, myself and I along with Klove radio station. We really get to praising the Lord!! If Myra is back on Sat., I will be doing Rt. 1 and then Rt. 2 on Mondays again. Just 2 days a week. Some day, if it is the Lord's will, I will have a Rt. of my own instead of subbing.

As I have to be at the Post Office by 6:30 in the morning I wll need to go. Thursday morning I will need to be there before 6:00. I also sub for the lady that sorts the mail.

Need to go and get some snoozes.....love ya'll.

Ike did land.......

but didn't hurt us too bad. I talked to Cliff last night and he got more of Ike than we did and he lives close to St. Louis, Mo.! He said they had 6 inches of rain at his home where we had only 3 at ours. Isn't that strange? We had some winds but nothing like they had there. Again, God skirted this hurricane around us on the other side. Gustav was to the east of us and Ike was to the west of us. Isn't God good?

good and bad

Hello to all!

Just a short note as it is almost time to leave for church.

Monday, the lady I sub for most of the time at the Post Office had an accident and was severely burned. She is in great pain. Please pray for her. Myra is her name. Because of this, I am running the route everyday until she is able to come back to work. Also, Denise, the lady who sorts the mail in the mornings, is having a biopsy tomorrow. She is also having anxiety attacks. Please pray for her, also.

I'll let you know how things work out. I don't know when I will have a day off, other than Sunday.
Love to all.

Another One?

Hey to all,..

Well hope this finds you all doing great. Especially if you went to church this morning. Pastor gave a wonderful message. Jack had to work and Lyndsy teaches the preschoolers during childrens church.

Another one? It sure looks like it could be. Ike no less!.. It looks like Ike may come into the gulf to test the faith and whatever else the people of Louisiana have within. Our governor has done a wonderful job of trying his best, with God's help, of keeping all of us safe. I am thankful for a governor that shows his faith in the Lord.

We are doing great after Gustav. I have even worked an extra day for the PO. THANK THE LORD.!!

Will talk to you later. luv ya!!

WHEW!!!

WOW! Gustav came ashore and visited our state with a vengeance. Most of the state was affected by the winds and some more than others with rain and wind. God was gracious to us who live in Sabine Parish. The winds were not as bad as foretasted. We did not get the rain foretasted. We were without electricity for 24 and 1/2 hours. I was unable to post here before this morning, due to technical problems with the internet. Sorry. Jack's brother, Curtis and his wife, live in Baton Rouge and rode the storm. They are still without electric. According to the news reports, they may be without for over 4 weeks. They had some damage to an outbuilding, shed, and the top of a tree in their front yard fell. Curtis was outside at the time it fell, and told Jack he hurried into the house. They do have a camper to stay in, if it is at their home and not at the district church campground.
We received 3 inches of rain at our home. We had no wind damage. There were leaves and a few twigs, small limbs on the ground and on our road. Our road was very sloppy due to the slow, ground absorbing rain we received. The mud on the road was slush and Jack said approx. 6 inches or more. I am glad I didn't have to go out yesterday morning. We did get out for church last night. There were 2 trees that fell on the church property. Thank the Lord for His goodness.!

I am also thankful that our cell phones stayed up to where we could use them. I was able to talk to Mom during the storm time. During this time, Eileen fell and they thought she might have broken her hip, as she landed on it. According to the x-rays, it was not broken (thank the Lord). She does have brusing on the bone instead. She is in great pain and very bruised. Mom has been using a walker lately, due to twisting her knee. She has been in pain with that as well as everything else going on in their lives. Wish we lived closer to each other to where I could help. The Lord knows all about this also. Isn't He Good!?

Well, enough for now. Hope you all have a great day. I love you all and I know Jesus loves you more. Mary

He's showing his face

Yes, he is showing his face now. Somewhere around 7:30-8:00 this morning the outer bands of clouds have appeared. The wind is starting to pick up. No rain, yet. They are saying we are in direct path of the storm, even though we are so far inland. According to the reports Gustav is going to be a minimal hurricane or a large tropical storm when he comes to visit us.

Hopefully, we are prepared for the worst. We have water, lunch meat, a grill and a roof over our heads. We will not starve as God has supplied our needs. Yes, the electricity will most likely leave us for a few days. Hopefully not for weeks. So, if you don't hear from us for a while, you will know that we have no electric. I will try my best to keep you updated as well as I am able.

Love to all,
Mary and family

Gas Prices???

Well, they did it!! Yesterday at RaceWay gas was $3.529 and this morning at 5:30am it was $3.699. WOW! What a jump! Would you call this price gouging? I don't know if that is what THEY would call it, but sounds fishy, huh?

Yes, I have a full tank of gas at the present time. We have water set aside for drinking and cooking. Jack has the yard mowed. Yes, we are trying to be prepared. This is going to be a major storm. Hurricane Rita hit us when Katrina did not. Mostly because of where we live. Hurricane Gustav looks like it could come to visit us according to the predictions from the weather station. We will see.

Hope you are all having a great day...and depending on when Gustav visits and if he kills our electricity, I will try to get back and let you know how we are fairing.

Love to all,

It's coming!!

Hey all,

Well, here it is Aunt Judy, Martha, and Marks' birthday!!!!! Hope you all had a great day!

It's coming! What is it? Hurricane Gustov is on its way. And the way it looks, it could come to us very easily.!? Gas is already close to being unavailable for us. I was in Many this morning and most of the tanks had plastic bags on the nozzles. Some of them had notes stating that they only had the high octane. We heard that the delivery trucks were bypassing us and going on to the south to get the gas to them so they can evacuate. This makes sense, altho, we need it here so we can fill our cars as we are still able to drive to work.

The USPS regional director has sent a memo to us stating that we MUST fill our vehicles every day. No matter what. We are to be ready to deliver mail. If for some reason we are not able to deliver it, we will be notified by the Postal Service as to what to do. We have an emergency # to call to verify if we will receive mail to deliver and to whether we will report to work or not.

Some of the nursing homes have already evacuated patients to the homes in Natchitoches. They are not going to let happen to these people that had happened to some during Katrina. Maybe someone learned a hard lesson??? There are several shelters here in Sabine Parish as well as Natchitoches Parish. I believe we are ready for them. I was listening to the disaster control director this morning on the radio and he said they have several paper products donated to the shelter. There are still some mighty good, sharing people in our area and around the world.

Guess I'll go for now, as I need to shower and get ready for bed soon. I am delivering mail again tomorrow. YES!!! I have been at the post office every day since last Sat. except Sun.

Hope you all have a great day.......

Monday, August 25, 2008

Wow, how time flies when you are having fun!

I've been so busy with work that I haven't been on here for a while. Yes, I've checked my e-mail, but not been on this site. SORRY!

As I said the last time, I've been learning another route for the post office. This week I am going to try my best to learn the last route. I may not need to sub on this route as much as the other 3. But I will be able to be available if needed. Hopefully this will eventually get me on more than a day or two a week.

Lyndsy is reallly enjoying staying with Gracie while her mom works. Lyndsy is still waiting for the results of her MCAT test. Soon we will hear.

I have two children who will have a birthday this month. Martha and Mark will both have a b-day on the 29th. There are 4 years between their ages. While they were small, I would either bake and decorate a cake with both of their requests on the one cake. You know divide the cake by icing and put something on one side for the girl and something else for a boy on the other side.
If I didn't have time to bake, I would go to the bakery and order one. Awwww, those were the days. If you two are reading this, H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y ! ! ! ! Mama loves you very much!

Well, must need to go to work and deliver mail. Have an enjoyable day!

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Hello everyone!!

It has been a verrry long week.! But an enjoyable one. I did learn a new route for the post office in Robeline. That makes 3 routes that I know. I am now able to sub on all three. Whew! There is one more route to learn. I've been on it a couple of times but not driven it myself. It makes it easier when you drive it than riding in anothers' vehicle.

Lyndsy is starting a job today babysitting. She is still waiting for the results of her MCAT before she is able to enroll in med school. This is a job to fill in the time until further notice. The mother was Lyndsy's assistant during VBS. Lyndsy had the 3-5 years olds to teach. Gracie is 3 and her mother is a teacher's aide at the Many Elementary School in Many. Lyndsy is looking forward to watching Gracie for the next few weeks.

For those of you who do not know, Lyndsy graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA last May. She majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and Microbiology. She ended with a 3.712 gpa, Magna Cum Laude. Yes, we are proud of our 'little girl'!!

Jack is still working at Big Star Toledo cutting meat. It is engraved in his blood to cut meat.! LOL
He drives approx. 45 min. one way to work as this store in close to the lake. (Toledo Bend Lake)

Hope you all have a great day!! We will!

Sorry I haven't been on here for a few days. I have been training for a new route at the Post Office. Quite busy and very tiring. But the Lord is good and has supplied another way to earn a little more money to pay the bills that just keep coming in.

Ok folks, here's the names on the pics for you. Going from top to bottom........Mom, Crystal, Ed and Marika, Cliff, Jeff and Dorothy, Dad, Marika, the 7 of us--Mary, Eileen, Dorothy, Donald, Allen, Clifford and Jeffery--, Mark and Lyndsy, Dorothy and Me. I tried to put a slideshow on this site to no avail. It has closer shots of Don and Evie.

Hope you are all having a great day in the LOrd's presence. Love to all.

Another great day in the Lord's presence!

I went to Mrs. Mary Jame's home and picked her up and we went to Natchitoches to Heritage Manor and held a Bible study for them. Today I talked about forgiving and forgiveness. We really enjoyed the company.

I stopped at the Post Office I work part time from and was asked to learn another route. YES!!! This means I will get to work more than one day a week. It will be 2 days! It will take a while for me to learn this new route. It is longer than the one I sub on, and it works out of 2 PO's. All I can say is PRAISE THE LORD!

pics from Mom and Dad's 60th anniversary 2008

We had a great time in the Lord's presence yesterday. Thanks for the prayers. Hopefully I will be able to work on this site a little each day.
Hope you are having a great day today.

Welcome &

good morning to one and all. I hope to 'see' you here again. I am just starting to do this blogging bit and hope you forgive me if I make mistakes. LOL
I am also getting ready to go to one of the nursing homes to hold a Bible Study. Today I am going to talk about reasons to Praise the Lord. Please pray for me as I endeavor to do this work the Lord has given me.
